How to Print Video

Pre-Production

Before the making of this video, we worked together with our partner to brainstorm the different shots and camera angles we wanted for our video. This lead us to making a story board, which pretty much summarized what we would be trying to do with our video. After we had done this, we got our iPads so we could put our idea into actual photographs. These allowed us to better envision what our video would be like when we actually started putting it together. This also helped us receive small critiques on how to frame our videos. After we had prepared all of this, my partner and I decided what we wanted to do individually for the video. We decided that he would film, and I would act, but we would both help frame the shots, as well as editing the video by ourselves. Now we were ready to start the production of the video.

Production of the Video

Now we had started the video itself, and with it we had to make many decisions and changes as a group. In this way I thought my partner and I worked pretty well together; we were both very cooperative and willing to let the other person help out. So, we began filming with our iPads and tripods (which were difficult to operate at first) to shoot the different parts of our video. We usually took shots from different angles for each part of the video, so we could then decide which angle we like the best. When we were finished filming, we imported the videos to our computer and started the editing process, on Premier Pro. This program was definitely a huge learning experience, and it was difficult to adjust to the different software. Luckily, we had a lot of people around us, including our partners that helped us learn different techniques. Eventually, we were done editing our video and published it to our YouTube accounts.

What I Learned and How it Went

For me this project got a little dull at times, but it was definitely a crucial part in my learning of filming and video production. I was able to learn how to shorten certain clips, import audio for our project, as well as learning the different techniques and things to think about while filming. As a whole, I thought my partner and I did a pretty good job with the production of this video. We worked well cooperatively, and communicated with each other a lot. We tried not overpower one another, and I think that worked well for us. We also managed our time pretty well, and were able to learn a lot about the editing software. With this project, I will definitely use it as a stepping stone for future projects. This project was useful for learning different filming, and editing techniques. If I were to do this project again, I might have changed the angling of a few of our clips, and might have put a little more effort into adding detail to my editing. As a whole, I think this project will definitely be useful in future projects and experiences, and I am happy with our end result.

Music Video

Pre-Production For this project, we were separated into groups and were told we had to either recreate a real music video, or create our own from scratch. Our group decided we would recreate a music video for our project. For our song, we decided to go with "Bet on it" from High School Musical 2. In this video, the actor starts out a little troubled, and ends in a very confident and defiant mood. Our group wanted to help recreate this change of mood in our music video. To start the process of making this video, we had to complete our pre-production work. This was by far the most work we've had to do in pre-production for any of our videos. We had to make a beat sheet, which showed what was going on in each individual clip, as well as the length of the clips. We also had to storyboard, and show the mood of the music video in the beginning, middle, and end. Our group was very productive in pre-production, and finished as quick as we could so we could get right in to film...

Vector Portrait

Pre-Production To start out with this project, I had to choose a picture for me to vectorize. I don't take a lot of pictures, so I didn't have a lot of pictures to choose from. I eventually decided to crop myself out of a picture with my family and use that for my vectorized portrait. Once I imported this picture, I brought it in to Adobe Photoshop. In Photoshop, I used the posterize option to clearly separate the differences in color. This allowed me to make more specific shapes that would eventually make my portrait look a little more realistic. Then I imported this updated picture into Adobe Illustrator. When I started in Illustrator, I had to make two art boards. Both of the art boards would have my original picture on it. However, one of them would have a decreased opacity, and that picture would be the one I trace over to create my vector. The other picture was simply used for reference, and to grab colors for my vector. Production When I first started this project...

Graphic Design Second Semester Review

Projects Typography For this project, we had to come up with quotes and then make four unique typography designs using various colors and fonts. We completed this project over the span of about 1-2 weeks. This project was difficult for me because I tend to get stuck on the same idea often, so when I came up with one design, I struggled to create other unique and interesting layouts for my type. I also struggled to find good colors to use for some of my designs. This project really helped me to learn much more about the use of type/text in designs. I learned how to make fonts stand out by using different font types such as script and serif. I also became much more comfortable with the pen tool as I had to trace certain graphics. For this project, I often asked my peers what fonts or colors they preferred so that my designs could look even better. With my original designs, most of them were very similar and did not include very many graphics. So, in order to make my designs more in...
